These are a gorgeous example of what we call, in our most ladylike manner, F**k Me Boots.
A little bit goth, a little bit rock chick and a whole lot Woah Mama! I really wish my legs were a bit longer, but it's a sad fact that when you're five foot tall knee-high boots are more like coochie-high boots!
The Picadilly Boots are AU$258.00 from Shoesales.com.au.

Your daily dose of pretty: Iron Fist Sweet Skull O Mine Boots from Kates Clothing
It was the buckles, platform, and sky high stiletto that attracted me to these boots at first glance. It was only when I looked closer that I realised what I first thought was a paisley print is in fact skulls. Scary looking, flower-decorated, silver stud-bedecked skulls. Awesome!
The Sweet Skull O Mine boots by Iron Fist are £80.99 from UK site Kate's Clothing (who ship internationally), and are also available on the Iron Fist website, who are US-based and also ship internationally.

Your daily dose of pretty: Office Kitsch Hook Boot
There's definitely a look of the 90s in these boots, with their shape and multiple antique gold eyelets. Which is fine by me, there aren't many looks from the 90s I'd want to re-visit, but boots like this are still are favourite of mine.

Today's nails: Boots 17 True Blue
Boots 17 is a great range of budget-priced cosmetics by Boots, with some great polish colours in the range. And of course I picked up a few when we were in England.
This is True Blue, and it's gorgeous. I mean it's a no-brainer that I'm going to love a dark blue - it's probably my favourite nail polish shade - but this one is truly stunning.

Apologies for the horrific state of my cuticles - I'd just done housework! Anyway, isn't she a beauty? I have so many blues now that I figure I'd better start learning to tell the different shades apart, so after referring to the Wikipedia Shades of Blue page I think I would describe this as 'Dark Blue'. Yeah, I needed a web page to tell me that. Or maybe 'Ultramarine' - it depends on the lighting. Whatever, I love this blue cream!
Lovely application in two coats - I would call this a must-have if you're a blue polish lover.

Your daily dose of pretty: Rosalie Button Shootie from FrockYou
First up, can I just say I think 'shootie' is a very silly word. When I own these beautiful shoes I will most certainly not be saying "do you like my new shooties". At least not with a straight face. I will be saying "do you like my new shoes". A lot. Because when these babies are on my feet I'm going to be showing them off.
Now to find a way to get these babies onto my feet. Where did I leave The Eccentric English Boyfriend and his credit card?
Look, they're like little tuxedoes for your feet. The Rosalie Button (oh good grief I'm going to have to say it) Shootie is AU$189.95 from Australian company FrockYou, who ship internationally in case you were wondering.

Your daily dose of pretty: What tiny feet you have
It would seem to be Shoe Week here on Pretty Clever. Not by design, I'm just finding lots of shoes I like lately. The irony of my shoe obsession is that I often find it hard to buy shoes due to my teeny tiny feet. Mind you I'm a teeny tiny five feet tall - if I had big feet I'd look like a clown!
I take a US/NZ size 5, which equates to a UK size 3/Europe size 34.5 (depending on which conversion chart I refer to because of course they're all different!). In fact this is the maximum size I can wear and I prefer to go smaller, so you can imagine my frustration that most New Zealand shoe stores only carry from NZ size 6 upwards.
I've been known to buy my shoes from the childrens' section on the odd occasion, but there are also quite a few companies around who specialise in shoes for small feet, and a couple of them are even based right here in New Zealand. Which means I could quite easily get my hands on these little pretties:
What a gorgeous colour! And the button closure and the brogue detailing are to die for. The Cassidy Green is NZ$195.00 from Indigo River, who unfortunately for you overseas ladies who are small of foot only deliver to New Zealand and Australia.

Your daily dose of pretty: On yer bike
Way back in the day, like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, I was a bit of a bikie chick. I spent a lot of time on the back of my then-boyfriend's bike, and I looked bad-ass. Seriously. I had a leather jacket with zips AND tassels. Yep, tassels. Man I looked hawt. Or at least I thought I did. In hindsight, maybe not so much.
Anyway, I've still got a bit of a thing for biker chic. Although these days the biker chic I go for wouldn't actually be particularly practical on the back of a motorbike:
Straps and studs and buckles oh my! But possibly not so sensible for the back of a bike. Which is fine, because the closest I get to a motorbike these days is when I'm cursing at them from behind the steering wheel of my station wagon.
The Cletus boot (seriously? Cletus? Like the Slack Jawed Yokel?) is AU$200.00 from Zu.

Your daily dose of pretty: Belle boots
14 Year Old Daughter has just come home sick from school and the first thing she did when she got in the door was vomit. And vomit again. And then vomit some more. (Why she couldn't have vomitted at school I don't know. I mean why else would they call it the Sick Bay?) So, I am on Vomit Bucket Duty - one of the many joys of motherhood. My life: you know you want it.
At times like these I like to remind 14 Year Old Daughter of when she was a tiny little three year old who would sit fascinated beside her pregnant mother as she barfed endlessly into the toilet. Friends who looked after her were told matter-of-factly "my mummy wommits, she goes BLAH". Bless.
Anyway now that The Wommity One is asleep I need something pretty to erase the thought of all that vomit from my mind. Pretty boots on sale should do it:
Well would you look at that, pretty boots on sale. Completely made me forget about the womitting. Until just then, when I mentioned it. Damn.
The Belle boots are £17.50 from boohoo.com.

Update: the crap, the annoying and something silly to end on
Hello there my pretties, a little housekeeping for you, starting with the crap news, moving on to some annoying (for me) stuff and ending with something ridiculously silly, cos we like the silly!
As I said the other day, since our return from Dunedin life has thrown me rather a curve ball that is taking a while to adjust to. The day before we left for Dunedin I noticed some numbness and tingling in my toes and bottom (classy chick that I am), but determined that nothing was going to spoil my little brother's wedding I put all thoughts of it aside and had a fabulous weekend - just fabulous. I love weddings! However by our return Sunday night the problem reached from below my hips to the tips of my toes, so Monday I saw my GP who was suitably flummoxed (Things You Don't Want Your Doctor To Say: "Hmmmm, you're a puzzle") and referred me to a neurologist at Auckland Hospital. The appointment wasn't until Wednesday, and having put off thinking about it over the weekend I decided it was damn well time I had a good old fashioned hypochondriac panic, so late Monday night The Eccentric English Boyfriend drove me to A&E, where they also looked suitably puzzled and slightly worried (Things You Don't Want Your Doctor To Do: look worried).
The doctor told me later that my symptoms and the pace with which they were spreading lead her to believe I could have a fast-growing tumour on my spine, so the MRI machine was fired up in the middle of the night (it takes an hour for it to warm up, did you know that?) the staff were called in and I spent and hour and a half having my spine and brain scanned.
The MRI luckily showed no tumour, unluckily what it did show were lesions on my spine and my brain indicative of Multiple Sclerosis. I guess you can imagine the news fairly knocked me for six, I spent a lot of that night crying. I was sent home with steroids and instructions to keep the neurologist appointment on Wednesday, which I did and he confirmed that the most likely diagnosis is MS. There is apparently the smallest possibility that in fact it is simply a one-off occurrence, but that's pretty unlikely. MS being the very nebulous disease that it is what happens from here is an unknown. I can expect this episode to last anything from weeks to months, with the possibility of some residual permanent effects, and then I could have another episode within months, years, never - there really is no way of telling, or of telling how another episode will present itself. Despite the bizarreness of not being able to feel my feet, I still have full mobility, albeit in a slightly clumsy manner. I do get very very tired so quickly though, which I think may be the most debilitating thing.
So, crap news quite frankly. However, this is not a death sentence, nor indeed a sentence to disability - I have now heard many stories of people who have MS and live long healthy lives with very few problems and I'm going to be one of them dammit! I have two gorgeous children, an Eccentric English Boyfriend who has been an absolute rock and a world full of pretties still to explore, and I have no intention of letting this stop me!The pretties will continue (in fact I happen to know that a certain Eccentric English Santa, even before this happened, had listened to my not-too-subtle hints and my Christmas present this year is a computer of the lap variety, suitable for blogging from even if I'm laid up!).
For those of you wanting to know more here is a link to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of NZ website - I will be contacting them this week and starting to educate myself about what lies ahead.
Right, everybody take a deep breath, smile, say "Louboutins" to yourselves a few times over, that's the crappy stuff out of the way.
Next, the slightly annoying, but mostly for me. You will have noticed there's been a distinct lack of posts containing my own pictures of late - that would be because my camera has decided to throw a wee tantrum and is refusing to talk to any of our computers. Whether this is the cord, the camera or the SD card I haven't yet gotten round to investigating - rest assured I will look into it and photos of my nails and my hauls will resume. In the meantime I do have some older photos on my computer, so you could end up with some posts that go something along the lines of "this is a polish that I wore, and it's pretty and stuff", since I'm not very good at labelling my photos!
And, to end, some silly. The hilarious Nixxy from Nixxy's Nails sent me this the other day, and it put a smile on my face. Let's face it, if you're a Christmas elf and your days are spent cajoling snotty nosed screaming children on and off Santa's lap, you're going to want to look pretty while you're doing it:
Plus if all else fails you can 'accidentally' skewer the little darlings with your stiletto. The Fantasy Elf Knee High boot is US$59.99 from LaLaLingerie.com. I'm guessing there is an outfit to go with it, but given it's a lingerie site that sells 'costumes' I haven't looked - yet!
As I said my pretties, the prettiness will continue, so keep watching this space as I fully intend normal service to resume now. Well, maybe after some dinner ...
Love
Selina

Your daily dose of pretty: Newport News ankle boot
It's totally not fair, boot wearing season has been and gone here in the antipodes, and the Northern Hemisphere shops are full of gorgeous boots like these just begging to be bought and worn. They even have a bow, like a little present waiting to be opened:

On the bright side, by the time end-of-winter sales roll around in the Northern Hemisphere we'll just be coming in to winter down here. But I love them and I want them RIGHT NOW - and then if I did buy them they'd sit there in my wardrobe all through summer taunting me: "nyer nyer nyer, we're so pretty and you can't wear us cos it's summer, it sucks to be you". Obviously that's how my shoes talk to me all the time - they have very little respect.
The cuff on these ankle boots can be worn up or folded down. I love the shape of the toe, and of course the bow is just too cute. They are also available in black, but I'm really in love with them in grey. US$44.00 at Newport News. Which if you think about it is actually a jolly good price. Because I needed more temptation. Those talking boots were right, it sucks to be me!

Your daily dose of pretty: naughty Naughty Monkey!
As brand names go, Naughty Monkey is pretty cool. And it turns out they make some nice boots. Like these ones:

Whoa momma! Naughty Monkey, you truly are naughty to tempt me so - these boots may well be better than sex! Straps, buckles and rivets, interesting chunky heel, to-die-for red - there's not much I wouldn't do for these boots. Except give up chocolate. I totally wouldn't give up chocolate for them. Unless they were on sale.
The Haute Rocker 2 by Naughty Monkey is US$158.99 on Heels.com.
