I love this pretty dress. The deeply pleated full skirt is so girly, and the boning in the bodice means that any wobbly bits would be nicely contained. I do suspect though that I'd have to wear a fairly heavy duty strapless bra to keep the girls in check. And possibly avoid raising my arms above shoulder height in case they decided to pop out!

Doesn't it just scream Spring? And the aqua and grey colour combination is a total winner.

I'm not normally a fan of plaid (or as we call it: tartan). Too many bad memories of my school uniforms - brown and green tartan monstrosities of woollen itchiness that they were.

I may just make an exception in the case of this dress though:

That's pretty. And even though the tulle bits might be a little itchy it doesn't remind me at all of school uniforms.

I have to admit Octopi (see how I used the correct form of the plural there) kind of give me the creeps. Those wriggly waving tentacles are all a bit wormy for my liking, and we all know how I feel about worms. *shudder*

This cuff from ModCloth is not in the slightest bit creepy though, I could definitely see it adorning my wrist without causing me to shriek and flail every time I saw it:

Cute story for you: When 14 Year Old Daughter was a wee dot she saw an octopus on TV and exclaimed to me: "Look, you can see it's testicles!". That story is now so ingrained in our family memory that we all have a hard time remembering to refer to them correctly as 'tentacles' - most embarrassing on family trips to the aquarium!

How many of you are on Twitter? I'm a total Twitter Addict (which I guess makes me a ... Twaddict?) - Twitter has given me the opportunity to chat to so many of my fellow bloggers from around the world as well as keep up to date with what my favourite shops and brands are doing. Best of all, I can follow my favourite celebs on Twitter and really feel like I know them personally. And then unfollow them when I realise that actually most celebs have very little of interest to say!

I love swooshy skirts:

This skirt reminds me of when a friend invited me to an open evening at her belly dancing class.  I really enjoyed the belly dancing, but the absolute highlight of the evening for me was the guest Flamenco dancer - I loved the tempo and passion of the dancing, not to mention the gorgeous shoes and swooshy skirts. This skirt would be totally awesome for flouncing around being all Spanish and passionate.  Or you could take your cue from ModCloth who describe it more in pirate wench terms, in which case you'd be wanting to swing a cutlass and say "harrrrr" a lot. Or something.

For fans of Mad Men, and more particularly the gorgeous 60's style clothes in the show, the ModCloth website will soon feature a Mad Men-inspired lookbook entitled "A Mod Affair". ModCloth say: "This fashion spread features a special collection of 20 one of a kind items, along with new ModCloth items, that will be launched in tandem with the lookbook, with new true-vintage pieces going up every hour, on the hour, between 9am and 11pm."

The lookbook launches Wednesday 19 August. Of course here in New Zealand it IS already 19 August, so I'm just going to have to keep checking back until it's up. In the meantime I will have to content myself with looking at some of the items that will be featured. This Flower Box Pin for US$14.99 is rather cute and whimsical.
