I'm a sucker for a spot of pampering - manicure, massage, haircut - if it involves me sitting/lying still for a while and having someone fussing over me I'm all for it. Except for pedicures. I get them done but my extreme ticklishness makes it not as pleasant as it should be, especially when I spend a lot of time apologising for kicking the poor nail tech in the face - damn reflexes.
So when an email from The Body Shop arrived recently inviting me to a free make-up application for Body Shop card holders to promote their limited edition Hot Brights Collection I was there.
Apologies for the tiny picture, it's the only one I could find. The collection from left to right is: Hot Brights Lips and Cheeks in pink and bronze (double ended, one end is a lip and cheek stain, the other a lip gloss), Hot Brights Blush Duos in pink and bronze, Hot Brights Eye Colour Duo Pallettes in Violet Sunset and Pearly Sky and Hot Brights Eyeliner duo pencil (bottom right) in blue and purple (double ended, one end a matt the other a shimmer).
The Body Shop make-up artist did a lovely job of the application using the bronze blush duo, Violet Sunset eyeshadow duo, purple eyeliner duo pencil and pink lip stain and lip gloss. I spent ages staring at my eyes in the mirror afterwards working out how she applied her shading so that I can copy it.
All the items she used on me were lovely, and the stand out of the collection was the double-ended eyeliner pencil. It's been years since my eyeliners have been anything other than black (too many bad memories of electric blue eyeliner back in the 's), but I loved this against my hazel eyes, especially with the shimmer giving it giving it an extra pop.
What you can't see very clearly in the picture is the gorgeous packaging of the blush and eyeshadow compacts. The lids remind me of an old fashioned brooch, with a painted flower against a white background - which makes me want to buy them just for that!
After the great lost wallet adventure of Saturday (yes it's still missing, I got my temporary replacement driver's license today), I only had a few dollars to spend, so I went home with the purple eyeliner pencil (NZ$ ) but I think I'll be back for the eyeshadow and lip stain too.
This is a limited edition collection and will only be available in New Zealand Body Shop stores over winter while stocks last, so if you want to get your hands on these best pop in sooner rather than later.
