You know what's even better than pretty jewellery? Pretty jewellery that you can draw pictures with!
Yes folks, that really is jewellery made from crayons. How awesome is that?
Crayon rings from OhMyLuckyStar on Etsy come in sizes from kids to adults and would make perfect Christmas gifts if you're after something a little different. The 8 pack pictured above is US$40.00.

Your daily dose of pretty: Keiko Secret Compartment ring on Etsy
Two words people: Secret. Compartment!
Wearing this I could pretend I was a femme fatale from a Poirot mystery. But shorter. And, umm, wobblier. With a Kiwi accent.
I'm pretty sure none of the Poirot femme fatales were short and wobbly with Kiwi accents...
Did I mention the secret compartment?
The Keiko Secret Compartment ring is US$16.00 from FleurAvenue on Etsy.

Your daily dose of pretty: what we bought at Tatty Devine
14 Year Old Daughter and I had a list of must-visit shops for our trip to England, and top of our list was jewellery store Tatty Devine. So one day in the middle of our week in London we sent Eccentric English Boyfriend and 11 Year Old Boy off to blow things up at the Science Museum and set off on our own to negotiate the tube and London streets. We managed not too badly, too. We didn't get lost on the tube, almost didn't get lost in the streets and eventually found ourselves at the bright pink Tatty Devine store in the Seven Dials area of Covent Garden (which by the way is totally worth a visit for cute little clothing boutiques).
We browsed for ages trying to make up our minds which of the adorable jewellery items we would buy, and eventually narrowed it down to one necklace and one ring each. So here's what we got:
I couldn't resist the Red Squirrel Necklace (£21.00). He's such a cute little fella, and a fabulous souvenir of my trip (because of course I totally love squirrels!).
Isn't the Cat Ring (£9.00) adorable? Not the most comfortable thing to wear, but I'll put up with a little discomfort to have cat ears sticking up from my finger!
14 Year Old Daughter is passionate about music (she plans to study it at university) so the Music Note Pendant (£22.00) was an obvious choice. Hers is black, which doesn't seem to be available any more, but the red is gorgeous too.
I bought 14 Year Old Daughter the Moustache Necklace for Christmas, and now she has a Moustache Ring (£9.00) to go with it.
All in all a productive (if not somewhat wallet lightening) visit. And our day didn't end there, we hit the tube again, got lost a little bit more and then shopped up a serious storm on Oxford Street. But that's a whole other blog post!

Your daily dose of pretty: Hen and Chicks Lasercut ring stack from LicketyCut jewellery
Hello my pretties, and apologies for being so frequently absent lately. My motivation has been rather low lately as my mind has been pondering the Really Big Questions, like "What is life all about really?", "What do I want to do with my life?" and "How many pairs of black shoes are too many?". The answers to those questions are (in order): "Shoes, d'uh!", "Buy shoes" and "Is this a trick question, there is no such thing as too many shoes".
So, with steely determination to be disciplined, dammit, I am back with a pretty for you. Which isn't actually shoes. Because I like to keep you on your toes.
LicketyCut (on Etsy) make gorgeous lasercut stackable ring sets like this Hen and Chicks one shown (which is US$12.00). There are several other sets available, including a ramen noodle set, a Star Wars set and a spouting whale set. I want to buy the spouting whale and hen and chicks sets, put them on together and let them have at it. It'll totally be like Jaws. But with a whale. And chickens. Cool.
Hey I've just realised, if you remade Jaws with a krill-eating whale you'd have to call it Baleen! Which is so not scary. Unless you're krill. In which case you're totally quaking in your boots.
Not that krill wear boots. Or watch movies.
Yeah.

Your daily dose of pretty: Gingerbread Man ring
Another day, another discovery - this time the cute and quirky jewellery of nelliD. I mean just look at this ring:
Awwww, lookit the little gingerbread man with his insane little grin. Doesn't he just look so yummy? Don't you just want to eat him all up, first his little head, then his little arms and then his little legs ...
Sorry, got a bit carried away there. He's obviously not real gingerbread, I mean that would just be silly. And cool, totally cool. Because then you could engrave the back of the ring with "in case of gingerbread emergency, break glass". I'm not sure what constitutes a gingerbread emergency but it could happen, just ask Hansel and Gretel.
Anywho, the Gingerbread Man ring is £4.00 in nelliD's shop on Folksy. I already bought it (SURPRISE!) but there's another one in stock. Oh and I also bought these cute mismatched earrings to go with it:
Which were the last ones in stock so, yeah, sorry about that.

Your daily dose of pretty: Pebble Beach jewellery set
When I look at this gorgeous pendant I almost feel like if I shook it all the little pieces inside would jump around:
The Pebble Beach Fused Glass Jewellery Set consists of the necklace and matching earrings and is US$45.00 from Glass Elements on Etsy.
Also, does anybody else think these rings totally look like eyeballs?:
Anybody? Anybody? Ok maybe not the yellow ones so much, unless they were the eyeballs of somebody with a really bad case of jaundice. The ColorPop rings are US$14.00 from Glass Elements.

Your daily dose of pretty: Cupcake Rings (mmmmm, cupcakes)
Since I started my special MS diet I've become a little food obsessed. Ok actually quite a lot food obsessed: I'm watching every food programme I possibly can no matter how banal, spending hours staring at pictures of food online, and only just managing to stop myself from buying every food-themed item I can lay my hands on. Like these cute Cupcake Rings - I think I'd like one in every colour:
Mmmmm, cupcakes.
However I do think I am starting to adjust to this diet gradually, which is a good thing because otherwise the next logical stage is for me to do a Homer Simpson and start hallucinating that everyday objects are food. Probably not a good thing - as much as I love our Fred he is a very smelly little dog and I'm pretty sure attempting to eat him would result in all sorts of digestive unpleasantness, no matter how much like a large bar of white chocolate he might look.
The Cupcake Rings are available in your choice of size and colour from Cupcakes and Mace on Etsy (a fellow Kiwi, by the way), and are US$11.00 each.

Your daily dose of pretty: Mink Schmink Pink Frosting Ring
Who remembers the pretty, and pretty delicious looking, Chocolate Ring by Mink Schmink I blogged about back in November? Well Mink Schmink have their online store up and running, and they are having a sale on some of their items until 28 February. The Chocolate Ring is now AU$20.00 (down from AU$25.00). I might have to buy it. And also this:
Mmmmm, frosting. Pink frosting. Pink buttery sugarey frosting. With pink.
You have no idea how much this is making my mouth water. You see, the lovely people from the NZ Multiple Sclerosis Society gave me a great book by Professor George Jelinek about living with Multiple Sclerosis, and one of the things he recommends is a diet containing virtually no saturated fat. There is some strong research showing that this can reduce the frequency and severity of MS episodes and lengthen the life expectancy of an MS sufferer so it's well worth me doing it. Plus it's all healthy and stuff and I could stand to lose a bit of weight anyway, but it means no chocolate for me. None. And no pink frosting. Not one little lick of the spoon. Potato crisps? Nope, no salty crispy deep fried potatoey goodness shall pass these lips. And bacon? Noooooooo bacon. Mmmmm, bacon.
You've probably gathered this is not the easiest thing for me to do. Whenever I tell my friends about this diet there is inevitably a sharp intake of breath - my chocolate addiction is the stuff of legend!
In view of this I'm sure The Eccentric English Boyfriend will understand that if I can't eat chocolate and pink frosting I can at least wear it. Well, plastic versions of it anyway - the real thing might be a tad messy!
The Pink Frosting Ring is on sale for AU$20.00 at Mink Schmink. More information on Professor Jelinek's MS research can be found here.

Your daily dose of pretty: one of these things is not like the other
Want to play One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other my pretties? Ok, here we go then:

Did'ya spot it? Ok, it's pretty obvious really, but doesn't that ring at the bottom totally look like a chocolate? It certainly makes my mouth water!
The pretty enough to eat ring is part of the Sweetie Pie collection by Australian label Mink Schmink. The Mink Schmink online store is currently under construction, but if you see anything on their website that you like they will happily take orders by email.
I'm going to find some chocolate now.
Oh and the chocolates are by de Spa Chocolatier of Christchurch, New Zealand.
